I approach photography as personal documentation, recognizing that "reality" is inherently subjective. My lens captures not only what I observe but also how I feel in that instant. Each photograph is a time capsule, a repository of memory, emotion, and atmosphere. I photograph to remember—my life, my evolution, my emotional landscape. The world's visual stimuli trigger a cascade of feelings, and I aim to evoke a similar emotional response in the viewer, allowing them to connect with the image on their terms. I find perfection in imperfection, mirroring the transient nature of moments themselves. Analog photography, with its inherent lack of control and its emphasis on the immediate, resonates deeply with this philosophy. It captures a fleeting instant that might be lost to memory, only to be rediscovered later.
I am Claudia Muñoz Karig, born in Quito, Ecuador in 1988, a German and Ecuadorian photographer, identifying as feminist and queer. Influenced by a family deeply engaged with photography, the medium has been an intrinsic part of my life. My formal journey began with analog photography studies in Quito at age 18, followed by a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture in Germany. Furthering my photographic exploration, I attended Freie Fotoschule in Germany and participated in group exhibitions. I have shared my knowledge through photography courses and workshops. Currently residing and working in Quito, I am pursuing a Master's in Artistic Photography at UNIR.
